Raymond (Ray) Woodie, 84, of Park Falls, WI., passed away peacefully in his home on September 11, surrounded by his loving family.
Ray is survived by his wife, Merida (Resar) of Park Falls, WI., his son, Joe (Karen), of Eau Claire, WI., sister, Irene (Spoerl), of Park Falls, five grandchildren; Stephanie Tapplin (Greg Wagner), Alex (Elisha) Tapplin, JT Woodie, Jacob Woodie, and Ashlee Woodie, and six great grandchildren.
Ray was preceded in death by his daughter Geri, of Park Falls, his parents, Joseph and Mary of Park Falls, and numerous brothers and sister.
Ray proudly served on the Park Falls City Council, was employed by, and retired from, the Flambeau Paper Mill. In his semi-retirement Ray worked for the Price County Forest Department. As a young man he spent a lot of time with his father cutting pulp until he served in the United States Army.
Ray will be remembered for many things. A jack of all trades, he could build or fix almost anything. Many of the signs you see at Price County parks he built. But most of all, he will be remembered by his family for his quiet, humble, loving ways, and his bravery and strength as he battled cancer. His positive attitude and willingness to fight right to the very end was an inspiration to the ones closest to him. He took everything in stride with grace.
The family would like to thank all those who provided care and support, especially the doctors and nurses at Marshfield Clinic - Minocqua Oncology, Home Health and Hospice – Marshfield Medical Center, friends and family.
The family will have a small, private celebration of Ray’s life at a future date.
