Obituary for Liala Deyonne Donaldson

Liala D. Donaldson 86, of Eau Claire, died Saturday May 28, 2022.

Liala was born April 16, 1936 in Otter Creek, WI to Anna Dahl. She graduated from Colfax High School in 1955.

Liala married Robert W. Donaldson on September 24, 1955. They had four daughters. She was a stay at home mom until the youngest was in school, then she went to work at ABC in Chetek, she also worked at Paulson’s Eggs in Sand Creek, but then went back to school for her CNA certificate. She worked as a CNA at Knapp Haven Nursing Home in Chetek until she retired.

Liala enjoyed camping, gardening, making lefsa, playing cards, bowling, staying winters in Apache Junction AZ, and occasional trips to casinos. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends.

Liala is survived by three daughters, Kristine (Don) Hughes of Chippewa Falls, WI, Ruth Ann (Mark) Steinmetz of Venice, Fl, Sheila (Al) Ludwikowski of Ames, IA. Three brother-in-law’s Dennis Olson of Bloomer, WI, James (Donna) Donaldson of Bloomer WI, Chuck (Marlene) Donaldson of Madison, WI. One sister-in-law Rose Dalhoe of Eau Claire, WI. Eight grandchildren, Jessica (Matthew) Waters, Sarah (Barrett) Brenner, Matthew (Heidi) Hughes, Robert (Jolena) Steinmetz, Joshua (Tasha) Steinmetz, Jacob (Wyndi) Ludwikowski, Justin Ludwikowski, Jordon (Ben) Grove. Sixteen great- grandchildren, Dylan (Abbie) Waters, Bryce Waters, Mason Brenner, Tyler Brenner, Carson Brenner, Spencer Brenner, Austin Hughes, Hayden Hughes, Addison Hughes, Owen Steinmetz, Macie Steinmetz, Oliver Steinmetz, Preston Steinmetz, Aria Steinmetz, Maddox Ludwikowski, Nora Grove. One great-great grandchild Chase Waters.

Liala is proceeded in death by her mother Anna Dahl, step parents Ed and Amanda Dahl, brother Irvin, her husband Robert, one daughter Deborah, bother-in-law Elwood, sister-in-law’s Elenore, Hazel, Mary, and Kathy.

We would like to thank all the staff at Orchard Hills, Dove West Healthcare & Mayo Hospice staff with a special thanks to Miranda Hutchinson for all the excellent care they provided, also thanks to Pastor Dale Moe for all the prayers and visits.

Memorial and burial service will take place at a later date at Popple Creek Cemetery with Pastor Dale Moe officiating.
