Obituary for Leland Charles LaMarr

Leland Charles LaMarr, age 79, of Greenwood, WI passed away Monday, August 8, 2022 in the ICU at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, Wisconsin.

Leland (Lee) was born September 1, 1942 in Garden City, Kansas, the son of Harvey W. LaMarr and Lela Pauline (Downer) LaMarr. He attended Greenwood High School and received his GED in 1988.

After being a farm hand for a few years he moved to Racine, WI and worked at J I Case Co as a machinist. He married Lorraine Worchel on September 29, 1962. They resided in Milwaukee, then Sturtevant, and Racine. In 1971 they returned to farming in Neillsville. In 1973 they started farming in the Willard area until 1989. Lee then worked at Grassland, Weathershield, Figis and most recently at Cummins Filtration, until health problems forced him to retire 2 years ago. Lee was a hard worker that rarely missed a day of work and rarely complained about the work he had to do. One supervisor said, she wished she could clone him.

Lee loved the outdoors, loved to deer hunt and loved to drive around looking for deer in the early evenings. Saturday night before he passed away, he and his wife drove around looking for deer of which he saw many but no white ones that he was especially fond of seeing. Much as he loved the outdoors, he really loved to play cards of any kind, especially cribbage. He had earned his silver award and was close to getting his gold award from the ACC but was forced to give up his beloved cribbage also. The casino was another of his great passions and he got to go to the casino one last time with his sister on the 23rd of July. Watching the Brewers, Packers or the Badgers was also a favorite thing to do.

Lee was looking forward to moving to an apartment in Marshfield to be closer to dialysis. He figured a 1-mile trip to dialysis was better than 30 miles. He didn't live long enough to make that move, but he also doesn't have to drag the oxygen tubing around that he hated.

Lee is survived by his wife Lorraine; sons Leigh Alan (Angelina) of Bremerton, Washington and Louis of Greenwood; beloved granddaughters Amya of Greenwood & Gweneth of Loyal; sisters Edith Stenslien of Stoddard, WI, Doris (Eugene) Fortuna of Kansas City, MO, and Victoria Clark of Pensacola, FL; sister-in-law Joan Casperson of Waukegan, IL; step-granddaughters Ofelia Bell of Arlington, TN and Mariquita (Kit) Crum of Anna, TX and their families; several cousins; and nieces & nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers; and a sister.

There will be no visitation or service per Leland's wishes.
