Jeanette "Jeannie" (Luer) Geurts (84) was called home to the good lord on 8/18/2023 under the care of Friendly Village in Rhinelander WI.
Jeannie was born in Eau Claire WI on June 9, 1939 to Kenneth and Alta Luer. She was a graduate of Memorial High School with the class of 1957. Jeannie was employed at Wisconsin Bell Telephone company as an operator. Jeannie married her first husband David Fouts in 1958 and had two sons, Mark and Dennis. Jeannie then moved to Appleton to be closer to her sister and raise her 2 boys. She then met and eventually married her "Heinie" DuWayne Geurts in 1975 and they had their daughter Jennie. They lived in Appleton and Freedom. They eventually settled back in Eau Claire in 1986. She retired as a telephone operator in 1998.
Jeannie loved taking her kids to her sister and brothers-in-law's cabin in Eagle River where they loved to snowmobile, fish, and take sunset cruises on the pontoon boat. Jeannie was always one to entertain and you would always leave with a full belly. She loved to spend time in the kitchen where she would cook delicious meals and even better "puppy chow" or caramel puff corn. She had her "junk" drawer that was filled with treasures for her grandchildren. She would get these treasures from all the garage sales her van would take her to. She loved being the loudest cheerleader at her grandkids sporting or music events. Jeannie would never let much get past her, she always had something "smart" to say that would make you laugh. She also had the BEST side lip look ever.
Jeannie was an absolute selfless mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
Jeannie is survived by her brother Terry Luer, DuWayne "Heinie" Geurts, David Fouts, sons Mark (wife Deb) Fouts, Dennis (friend Marti) Fouts, Grandchildren Ben (wife Patti), Daniel, Sarah (friend Tim), Shianne (husband Colter), Michael, Amir, Jordan. 7 Great Grandchildren Lillie, Lucie, Zoey, Eden, Zander, Zinley and One on the way. Jeannie is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jeannie was preceded in death by her daughter Jennifer Geurts, parents Kenneth & Alta, brother Denny, Sister Marilyn, brother-in-law Richard, sisters-in-laws Dorothy & MaryJane, and daughter-in-law Kathy.
